Steven Zuber:
“I push myself in every
training session”

TSG confirmed the signing of Steven Zuber in mid-August. The Swiss player celebrated his debut in a Hoffenheim shirt on Saturday against VfL Wolfsburg. achtzehn99.de spoke to the 23-year-old about his first month here and his debut.

Hi, Steven. You got your first minutes in the Bundesliga against Wolfsburg…

Steven Zuber:It was a great feeling to play here for the first time. I'm happy that I got the chance, but obviously it was disappointing to concede the equaliser so late on.

You weren't quite at 100% after your move. Has the intensity at training surprised you?

Zuber:After the first Bundesliga game we had a very tough training session. I was crossing the ball and my thigh tightened up. That can happen, but it shouldn't. The first few friendlies were more strenuous because I didn't know the system and you have to push yourself in every training session. I have adjusted now though. Generally, I like how we want to play our football: Early pressing and going forward.

You've only been living here for just over four weeks. How are you finding it?

Zuber:Very good. It was no problem getting settled into the team. There are some great guys here.

Have you already found a flat, a favourite restaurant…

Zuber:I moved into my new flat in Heidelberg on Monday. There are a lot of small cafés in Heidelberg but I'm still trying to find places that I like the best. But all in all, everything is good.

It must be a lot different to Moscow…

Zuber:Yes, definitely. Moscow is very, very big and there's always lots to do. Heidelberg is smaller and quieter, but I like it.
