Boris Vukcevic awoken from his coma

Hoffenheim player Boris Vukcevic has been awoken from his coma, eight weeks after his car accident. The 22 year old has been conscious for a few hours each day and has been able to communicate with his immediate family. His daily treatment at the rehab clinic will continue.

Due to Vukcevic's serious head injuries, there remains no definitive prognosis of a complete recovery of his condition. The German U21 player is only being visited by his close family at this time because of the intensive medical care he is receiving.

Hoffenheim's sporting director, Andreas Müller: “We're delighted that things are improving with Boris. We think of him every day. Obviously his teammates would love to visit him, but that's secondary. What's important is that he has the best conditions for his recovery. We appreciate his family's wishes.”

Dragan and Sonja Vukcevic, the Hoffenheim player's parents, are still in regular contact with TSG: “We're thrilled that Boris has made progress, but we also ask that you respect that our son needs his peace, as he still has a long road ahead of him.”
