Andreas Müller: “The team must believe in themselves”
As much as this has been addressed, it is of secondary importance. Far more significance for Babbel is that his team play their own game for “the whole 90 minutes. The game at home against Fürth shows that the team often goes through ups and downs.” As much as this is not unusual, sporting director Andreas Müller knows how important it is to get to grips with them. “We demand passion from our team. We have seen that they are defensively solid as well as posing a threat in attack, but the team must believe in themselves. If they can call on what is inside them, then we'll pick up points on Saturday”, stated a confident Müller.
The manager certainly agrees with Müller in that respect. “If every one of our players reaches their full capacity then it will difficult to beat us.” Babbel will have to do without Chris, who will miss out due to a muscle tear, as well as Filip Malbasic, who has a bruised ankle. Question marks still remain over Stefan Thesker, who is trying to shake off a foot injury, and Matthieu Delpierre, who is bothered by a dead leg. Should everything go to plan, the Frenchman will return to training in time for the game. Daniel Williams is available for selection returning from his suspension.
Last season's game in Mainz resulted in a comfortable 4-0 win for TSG, something no one would complain about seeing again this Saturday.
