Tom Starke talks about…

He's the last line of defence for 1899 Hoffenheim and so often the saviour, something he proved with his last minute save against Borussia Dortmund last weekend that made sure the Kraichgau outfit stole all three points. achtzehn99.de caught up with the soon to be 30-year old goalkeeper.

Tom Starke talks about...

... last weekend's match against Borussia Dortmund

"It was a defining moment for us. We were on a bad run of form, but the way in which presented ourselves against the league leaders was very positive and could prove crucial at the end of this season.

... the hairy moment right at the end of the match

"It's been the story of our season and we always manage to make it exciting at the end of the match. I think it showed in the match that we've worked hard to make sure luck is on our side in the closing stages."

... celebrating with the fans after the win

"I'd love to celebrate with the fans after every game. There was a discussion during the week involving the supporters and the fact that it bore so much fruit is fantastic. Being able to celebrate together after a match like that is always a lot of fun and helps us bond as a team."

... a tumultuous Bundesliga season

"It's really curious what's going on in the league this season. We've certainly had our ups and downs this year and shown both the good and the bad. However, maybe we can use that to our advantage to move ourselves up in the league. We've still got a couple of games against teams that are currently above us in the standings."

... the upcoming opponents, Hannover 96

"I think everyone agrees that Hannover are the surprise package this season. They are playing some fantastic football, but we're not travelling north to lose, quite the opposite in fact. Having won against Dortmund we know were safe from relegation and it has given us an element of freedom on the pitch that will certainly benefit us."
