Season over for Demba Ba
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Ulrich Boenisch at the Hessingpark Clinic in Augsburg. The operation is intended to clear up a damaged tendon following the player's double leg break in 2006. Following a few days rest in Augsburg, Ba will begin a four-week rehabilitation programme in Donaustauf which will be closely monitored by the 1899 Hoffenheim medical team. A further three-week rehabilitation period in France is scheduled for afterwards. Overall, the Senegalese frontman will missing for around eight weeks, meaning he should be back in time for pre-season training if all goes to plan.
Ba broke his left leg in two places in 2006 and required a nail to be inserted to stabilise the fracture. In May 2009, the nail was removed at the Accident and Emergency Clinic in Ludwigshafen. The nail has aggravated a tendon which must now be cleaned up following the its removal.
