Hennes Behrens extends contract at TSG Hoffenheim

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have extended the contract of top talent Hennes Behrens, which was due to expire in the summer. The 20-year-old defender has signed a new long-term deal in the Kraichgau and will be a permanent member of TSG's first-team squad from next season.

"Hennes is a young player who has developed excellently over the past two years," said Andreas Schicker, sporting director at TSG Hoffenheim. "Hennes was not only a key figure and undisputed top performer in the U19 double victory in 2024, but has now also played a decisive role in TSG's U23 team's promotion from the Regionalliga to the 3. Liga. This enormous progress is yet another wonderful example of the traditional TSG path from academy player to professional. We are very happy to have secured the long-term services of another great talent in Hennes and look forward to welcoming him as a permanent member of the first-team squad from the summer."

Hennes Behrens joined TSG Hoffenheim's academy in July 2020 from the youth team of SV Darmstadt 98. The 20-year-old defender played 17 games for the U17s in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest (one goal/four assists), 51 games for the U19s in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest (one goal/12 assists) and six games in the UEFA Youth League (two goals/one assist) for the Kraichgau-based club's youth teams in recent years. In the 2023/2024 season, Behrens even celebrated the double with TSG's U19s, winning the German Championship and the cup. In the season just ended, he made 26 appearances for Hoffenheim's U23s in the Regionalliga (four goals/four assists), helping them gain promotion to the 3. Liga. Behrens made his first-team debut on Matchday 20 of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season when he came on as a substitute in the second half of TSG's match against Bayer Leverkusen.
