A red card for black-market tickets
The Ticketing Terms and Conditions of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Fußball-Spielbetriebs GmbH stipulate that tickets are personalised with a view to ensuring stadium safety and maintaining the social price structure. The tickets may therefore not be passed on commercially or uncontrolled via unauthorised sales platforms (eBay, kleinanzeigen.de, Viagogo). In the event of an offence, the second purchaser does not acquire the right to attend the match and must expect a ticket ban on the day of the match. Any uncontrolled transfer of tickets, in particular for profit, outside our official secondary market platform - the TSG ticket exchange - is therefore prohibited and will be prosecuted under civil law. TSG has been taking consistent and successful action against these unauthorised ticket sales in cooperation with the Heidelberg law firm LDM Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (LDM ai) for several years in the interests of all fans. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are thus committed to fair ticket prices and want to protect fans from overpriced or counterfeit tickets.
TSG fans can now support their club in the fight against the black market at the home match against Bayern Munich. An information stand will be set up for TSG fans at the west box office of the PreZero Arena (opposite the fan shop). Before and after the match, anyone who has paid more than the regular price can hand in their tickets there. TSG will then check how the tickets reached the purchasers. Affected fans can also contact TSG ticketing before the match day with information. Important: Fans who have purchased an overpriced or counterfeit ticket do not have to fear any legal consequences! Anyone who contacts us will be allowed into the stadium on the day of the match.
"We are consistently pursuing the approach we have taken since 2017 to combat the overpriced resale of tickets and have already recorded numerous legal victories. We want to further curb people being ripped off with our tickets - and we're hoping for the support of our fans," said Thorsten Baller, head of ticketing at TSG Hoffenheim.
Lawyer Frank Joachim Mayer, managing director of the law firm LDM ai, adds: ‘In addition to taking consistent action against platforms such as Viagogo, we also support the ticketing department in cases in which an unacceptable trade is being conducted with coveted tickets on a “smaller” scale. The exorbitant prices frequently charged or generated in auctions ultimately harm all honest fans and the club. As the tickets are also personalised, legally secure ticket purchases are only possible via TSG's authorised secondary market. Buyers of tickets on the unauthorised secondary market must expect to be turned away at the gate."
TSG Hoffenheim appeal to all club members, season ticket holders, fan club members and other visitors to the stadium not to support the unauthorised resale and black market trading of tickets. If you are offered tickets at the stadium, do not buy them, as you never know beforehand whether these tickets have been blocked or cancelled due to fraud or other violations of our GTC. In the worst case scenario, people spend a lot of money on tickets without being able to watch the match because the tickets have been cancelled by TSG. The same applies to the purchase of tickets via the above-mentioned and other internet platforms.
Tickets can be passed on via the official TSG 1899 Hoffenheim secondary market
It is of course still possible and permitted to pass on tickets privately at no extra charge, for example if the ticket holder falls ill or is otherwise unable to attend. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim also offer an authorised secondary market - the TSG Ticket Exchange. TSG fans can buy or sell their tickets here - under fair conditions.
