Heavy defeat in Bochum

TSG Hoffenheim lost 5-2 (3-0) away to VfL Bochum. TSG were already three goals adrift at the halfway point after Philipp Hofmann (22), Philipp Förster (30) and Takuma Asano (40) had scored. Hoffenheim did pull a goal back via Christoph Baumgartner at the start of the second half (47), but Erhan Masovic put the game beyond TSG when he made it 4-1 in the 69th minute. Munas Dabbur (77) and Moritz Broschinski (83) then netted at opposite ends in the closing stages.

The scenario:

TSG's long winless streak had seen them drop down to 14th place prior to kick-off, and they went into the game with a three-point lead over 16th-placed VfL Bochum.

The line-up:

Head coach André Breitenreiter made four changes to the starting XI that lost 3-1 to RB Leipzig in midweek. Thomas Delaney, Dennis Geiger, Tom Bischof and Kasper Dolberg replaced Kevin Akpoguma, Umut Tohumcu, Andrej Kramarić and Munas Dabbur.

Moment of the match:

The goal for 4-1: there was renewed hope after Christoph Baumgartner made it 3-1 in the 47th minute, but once it went to 4-1 via Erhan Masovic in the 69th minute the game was up.

Number of the game: 7

TSG Hoffenheim conceded at least two goals for the seventh game in succession. That has never happened before in the Kraichgau club's Bundesliga history.

TSG Hoffenheim will welcome Bayer 04 Leverkusen to the PreZero Arena at 15:30 CET on Saturday. It will be another opportunity to bring the winless run to an end.
