Vogt: "A great feeling"

Here's what the players and coach had to say after the 2-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League.

Kevin Vogt: "It's a great feeling. The victory today is deserved; it was a mature performance. We lost the ball too quickly in the final third during the first half and gave away counter-attacks. We improved in that regard in the second half; we were composed on the ball and moved it around better. The opposition got tired towards the end. We stayed calm and got the goals at the right moments. That was missing to some degree in our previous Europa League and Champions League campaigns. Today we were a step further along as a team."

Sebastian Rudy: "The victory is hugely important for us, because we absolutely wanted to win the first international match of the season. We've now taken that first step. We were very solid defensively, got stuck into the challenges and didn't give away much aside from the two set-pieces. We also created chances for ourselves and we knew that if we remained patient, we'd get our goals. And that's how it panned out."

Christoph Baumgartner: "It was always a dream for me to play in European competition. I'm absolutely thrilled that I also got a goal and we won. Red Star made it very difficult for us. We didn't always get shots away, but we did deserve to win in the end. I'm receiving a lot of trust from the coaching staff and I'm trying to pay that back. I promised Florian Grillitsch at half-time I'd score a goal for him. So I'm obviously delighted I managed it."

Sebastian Hoeness: "We can regard this as a deserved win. It was a strong performance, especially defensively, and we improved on the ball too as the game progressed. I'm delighted that we got another clean sheet. Kevin Akpoguma's challenge was decisive prior to our opening goal. Then there was some good switch-play and a brilliant shot from Christoph Baumgartner. The regaining of possession was vital prior to the second goal as well. Then the game was done."
