Rosen: "We're wary of Augsburg"

TSG Hoffenheim's Bundesliga campaign will edge closer to its conclusion when they visit FC Augsburg on Wednesday (20:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de). At the press conference prior to the trip to Bavaria, director of football Alexander Rosen spoke about the objectives for the remaining three games, the defeat against Leipzig and the appointment of a new coach.

Alexander Rosen on…

…the objectives for the season run-in: "We're in seventh position, which will be enough for the Europa League. We're extremely ambitious and obviously don't want to give this position up. The season can end either well or very well. And we'll give everything to ensure that."

…the opposition: "Augsburg took a big step forward on Sunday. They haven't yet fully accomplished their mission, but it is looking very good for my hometown club. They have lost only one of their past five matches. They're an unpleasant team. We experienced that for ourselves in the reverse fixture and we're wary."

…the personnel situation: "The team has recovered very well from Friday. None of our players came away from that game with an injury. Andrej Kramarić is not yet at 100 percent. He doesn't have enough training sessions under his belt yet. There is very much a possibility that he starts, but in that case it's rather unlikely he'll play the full match. We also need to protect him and make sensible decisions. We have lots of quality in the squad and want to bring in lots of fresh legs. For that reason, we aren't going to field the same starting XI three times in a row."

…the clash with Leipzig last Friday: "We saw a very good performance from our boys. Only the result was missing, unfortunately. We were playing against a very good opponent and still applied incredible pressure. Rather than going ahead, we suddenly found ourselves 2-0 down. But the lads reacted unbelievably well and continued to show courage. We want to approach the last three games in exactly the same vein."

…the new coach: "This circulation of names will follow us over the coming weeks. We'll only make a comment when there's something to confirm. We have other tasks facing us over the next 12 days."

Head-to-head record:

TSG Hoffenheim tend to enjoy facing Augsburg, having won nine of the previous 17 meetings between the clubs. There have also been four draws and four defeats. Prior to losing the reverse fixture 4-2, TSG were unbeaten in eight successive games against FCA.

The opposition's form:

Augsburg all-but secured their Bundesliga status for next season by beating 1. FSV Mainz 05 1-0 on Sunday. Coach Heiko Herrlich's charges are seven points clear of the relegation zone with three fixtures remaining. Picking up points on Wednesday will ensure they beat the drop.
