#H96TSG match reaction: “Something was missing today”

This is what the head coaches and players had to say after Hoffenheim lost to Hannover on matchday 15.

Julian Nagelsmann: “Congratulations to Hannover on a deserved win. We started well, but I think the weather played into Hannover’s hands a bit. The conditions don’t suit our game at all. Lukas Rupp had a big chance before the break and then it’s tough to come back from 1-0 down. The first was one unlucky – we were playing for offside and it didn’t work. Kramaric missing an open goal is unbelievable and then the 2-0. We deserved to lose today.”

Andre Breitenreiter: “We’re very pleased with the win because it ends a tough run for us. We’re over the 20 point mark now and that’s a big moment for a newly promoted team. The conditions meant it was a really tough match. TSG’s have a really strong passing game, but they couldn’t implement that this afternoon. WE played too deep in the first half and were lucky not to be punished for that. Set pieces made the difference today, but overall it was a brilliant team performance.”

Serge Gnabry: “It was very difficult for both teams today. We couldn’t create many chances; something was missing today. Andrej had a big opportunity to level things up, which I think could’ve change things. We went asleep for the second goal and then it was too late to change anything.”

Nadiem Amiri: “The conditions made it impossible to play good football. You stopped the ball and hoped it didn’t get away from you. I think we adapted well, but Hannover then scored from set pieces. We want to do things better in the derby against VfB on Wednesday.”

Mark Uth: “Both teams were fighting against the same conditions, but the weather is no excuse for defeat. We knew that Hannover were good at set pieces. We went to sleep twice and we lost the game. I don’t know why we’ve been so poor away from home this season. We are fully focussed on three points against Stuttgart on Wednesday.”
