Pirmin Schwegler suffers knee ligament tear
Midfielder Pirmin Schwegler tore his medial collateral ligament in his knee during last Sunday’s Bundesliga match at Mainz 05. It is still not clear how long the 29-year-old will be out for.
Schwegler had been in Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI for both Bundesliga matches this season. He picked up the injury just before the end of the match in TSG’s 4-4 draw at 1. FSV Mainz 05, after a collision with Karim Onisiwo.
Julian Nagelsmann said, “It is very bad news for us, but especially for Pirmin. He had been in good form in the last few weeks and will be missing for us for an indefinite period. But I have complete confidence in our medical team. They will make sure that he’s fit again as quickly as possible."
Eduardo Vargas was also not present at training on Tuesday. The Chilean is still struggling with a fever.
