VfB Stuttgart match reaction

We caught up with the two managers and Sebastian Rudy following TSG’s 2-2 draw.

Markus Gisdol: We wanted to have a compact midfield and not allow the opposition to play. We did that well in the first half, scored a goal and hit the post twice. We had some really good chances after half-time as well. We need to improve on taking our chances as I felt like we had the three points in the bag. Then we conceded from a set-piece, but took the lead once more. We couldn’t get the ball clear for the second goal. It is disappointing and I am not happy with a point.

Alexander Zorniger: I think we were lucky to leave with a point, but it wasn’t entirely undeserved. We even had a chance to make it 3-2. I thought the game would be quicker paced. We were too passive but came into the game gradually. It’s good that we came back from 2-1 down.

Sebastian Rudy: Of course it’s annoying that we couldn’t take all three points. I don’t think we were sloppy, Stuttgart just played long balls in the closing stages and there was one that we weren’t able to clear.
