Match reaction from the DFB Cup win in Aalen

We caught up with Markus Gisdol, Stefan Ruthenbeck and a few of the players after the 2-0 cup win against VfR Aalen.

Markus Gisdol: Of course we are very happy to have reached the next round. I feel vindicated having warned of Aalen's capabilities, and I haven't ignored the fact that we were a little complacent at times. We mustn't let this become a habit in the next few weeks. I will certainly be hoping for a home tie in the next round

Stefan Ruthenbeck: I was happy with my team's performance. We matched Hoffenheim for long periods of the game, but ultimately we just couldn't find the net, as has often been the case lately. I hope this sort of thing doesn't become a mental block for us in the future.

Andreas Beck: The pitch was difficult to play on and Aalen were obviously extremely motivated, but we ground out a good game and ultimately came out on top. It definitely helped to score when we did. We're all very happy to be in the quarterfinals. Now we will begin preparations for Schalke and on Sunday we'll find out who our opponents are.

Kevin Volland: We can't talk about a winning streak but we've finally won two games in a row! The victory was important for us; it was a battle. Now it is over and we travel to Schalke. We're not favourites but we have a lot of self confidence and want to get something from the game.

Eugen Polanski: As always in the cup, that was really hard work. The conditions were tough but we adapted and coped well.

Sebastian Rudy: It's great that we made it through without conceding. We made some mistakes and gave Aalen some chances. It's a good feeling to have kept a clean sheet. Now we will wait to see who our opponents are. Of course we want to make it to the semi-finals, but it certainly won't be easy. Only top teams make it that far. Everything is at stake in the next game.

Pirmin Schwegler: It was a commanding victory in difficult conditions. The Schalke match wasn't a distraction for us. Only today's game was important. We're among the best eight sides in the cup. One more win and we're in the semis. I've already been to Berlin for a cup final and would have no objections going back! It's some experience. It's still a long way away yet though.
