Andreas Beck called into Germany squad – Volland, Rudy and Thesker in U21s

Germany manager Joachim Löw named his squad for the national side's tour of the USA in a press conference on Thursday. Joining them will be TSG captain Andreas Beck. Germany U21s manager Rainer Adrion also named his squad. Hoffenheim players Kevin Volland, Sebastian Rudy and Stefan Thesker are in with a chance of going to the European U21 Championship in Israel this summer.

“The big goal in my career was and is the national team. To be selected by Joachim Löw after a difficult season with the club is a real delight,” said Andreas Beck following his nomination.

Beck has represented Germany nine times at first-team level. His last appearance was on November 17th 2010 in a 0-0 draw with Sweden.

“Maybe we can claim the title”

Eight of the best youth sides in the continent will face off in the European U21 Championship in Israel between June 5th and June 18th. Germany's group opponents are the Netherlands, Spain and Russia.

Rainer Adrion's side qualified from Group A undefeated ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an impressive record of nine wins and one draw from ten matches.

“I'm delighted that I can take part in this important tournament for Germany. We certainly have a difficult group but maybe we can claim the title,” said Kevin Volland.

“To be called back into the U21-squad after my long injury break is really great. I think we have a fantastic group of players and can achieve a lot,” said TSG midfielder Sebastian Rudy.
