Historical victory for USA – Salihovic celebrates 2-0 win in Wales

The US-boys have waited a long time for their first victory against their archrivals Mexico but it finally came to an end in the early hours of Thursday morning. Fabian Johnson and Daniel Williams achieved this historical victory at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City with a closely fought 1-0 scoreline. Sejad Salihovic, Isaac Vorsah and Jannik Vestergaard were also in action on Wednesday.

A prestigious and sensational game lay in prospect for the Americans. Daniel Williams and Fabian Johnson joined Jürgen Klinsmann in Mexico in order to take to the field against their archrivals. In a dream setting in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City, the USA celebrated victory at their 25th attempt on Mexican soil thanks to a goal in the 80th minute by substitute Michael Orozco Fiscal. While Williams played the first 60 minutes, Johnson played the full 90. Sejad Salihovic also went the full distance representing the Bosnian national team in a friendly against Wales. The Bosnians won 2-0 thanks to goals from ex-TSG player Vedad Ibisevic and Miroslav Stevanovic.

Isaac Vorsah had a significant journey, travelling to China where he represented Ghana in their game against the People's Republic. It finished 1-1 after Boakye equalised in the 80th minute to cancel out Gao Lin's 57th minute penalty. Vorsah also played the full 90 minutes.

The most important game involved Jannik Vestergaard and the Danish U21 team, who were playing the Faroe Islands in pursuit of some vital points towards their European Championship qualification campaign. A victory would have seen them overtake Filip Malbasic's Serbia, as well as take the lead in their group. However, the Danish could only earn a 1-1 draw. Jannik Vestergaard played the entire match. The battle between Malbasic and Vestergaard takes place on the 7th September in the penultimate game in Group A, one which could decide the group winners.
