Eight weeks injury break for Roberto Firmino

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim midfielder Roberto Firmino will not be making any more appearances this season, as the 20-year-old sustained ligament damage in his right ankle during the Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg on Sunday, ending in a stalemate 0-0. The Brazilian will therefore most likely be out of action for the next eight weeks and is expected to return when Markus Babbel's team start to prepare for the new season.

“We were afraid that the injury might've been even worse at first. But it's still very unfortunate that Roberto wont be available for us in the last three games of the season. I hope that he recovers quickly from the shock and that he will be up and running again soon,” explained Babbel.

Firmino sustained the injury early in the second half during a challenge with Freburg's Karim Guédé. Soon after the game, he was taken to Freiburg's hospital where the fear of a fracture was fortunately not confirmed. The final diagnosis of the injury was then made on Monday morning in Heidelberg.
