Derdiyok scores in Swiss victory

For eight TSG 1899 Hoffenheim players, this week meant the last set of internationals in the year 2012. For the most of them this meant friendlies but for Takashi Usami it meant qualification as the Japanese national team were playing for important qualification points

Despite not taking part, Usami's Japan earned a 2-1 win in Oman, one that means they take a further step towards 2014 World Cup participation.

Daniel Williams and Fabian Johnson travelled to Russia with the USA national team and both were in the starting eleven. While Fabian Johnson played all of the 2-2 draw, Daniel Williams was brought off in the 73rd minute.

The end of the 2012 international season for the Swiss and Eren Derdiyok went to plan. Switzerland won 2-1 in Tunisia and the TSG striker gave his country the lead in the 40th minute.

Sejad Salihovic and Bosnia and Herzegovina were guests in Algeria, winning the friendly 1-0. Sandro Wieser fared differently losing 1-0 to Malta in Liechtenstein's final game of the season.

The Germany U21 side met Turkey in their final game of the season. Kevin Volland started for Germany as they took an early lead. Volland was brought off after 70 minutes before Turkey scored a last minute equaliser. U23 player Kenan Karaman was also involved for Turkey.

Michael Gregoritsch played 68 minutes for the Austrian U21 side before being brought off in their friendly against Greece. Despite taking the lead, Austria had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
