1899 Hoffenheim 0-1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth (0-1) – match reaction

Hoffenheim were knocked out of the German Cup at the quarter final stage after losing to 2. Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth. What did the managers and players of the respective sides have to say about the result?

Holger Stanislawski: It's very disappointing to lose because we put in a good performance. We were the better team tonight, even with ten men, but just couldn't find a goal unfortunately. I can't blame the players today. We would like to have made it into the last four, but we didn't and so we move on. But the guys can be proud of what they showed and we should focus on that.

Mike Büskens (Manager, Greuther Fürth): It was a nerve-wracking 90 minutes but we gave it everything we had. In the second half, I can't remember them having a chance of note. In that respect, huge credit and respect must go to my players. We're very proud and very happy. It was the game of their life for the players, and the passion they showed tonight has made me extremely proud.

Andreas Beck: We're all behind the manager. We go through think and thin and all our ups and downs together. We wanted to give him something to celebrate by winning. I'm disappointed that we couldn't manage it.

Marvin Compper: I would have tried to separate the two players immediately, if I had been the referee. My hand was high, but I had no intent on hitting anyone. The rules are clear, but that's the part I'm annoyed about most. I still don't understand how, when two players attack me, I'm the one who ends up being punished.

Stephan Schröck (Greuther Fürth): Getting to the semi-final is something very special for us. After losing our last league game, this was a big test of our character. As the underdog, we gave the perfect answer to last week's result, and now it really doesn't matter who we get in semis.
