Reaction against FC Bayern München

1899 Hoffenheim were well and truly beaten as they took on FC Bayern München in the Allianz Arena, but ultimately lost to a team on top of their game. Here's what those involved had to say about the match:

Marco Pezzaiuoli: Bayern absolutely deserved to win. We we're outplayed in all areas of the pitch and were always chasing the game. We never got a grip on the game and we're simply terrible today. Naturally, when you go 2-0 down within the first quarter of an hour it doesn't do any good for a players confidence.

Louis van Gaal: I'm very happy. Hoffenheim are a very good team, but we always seem to manage a win against them. Over the 90 minutes were played well and gave them very little room to operate in. We only made on mistake at the back that I can remember and Thomas Kraft was on hand to deal with danger on that occasion. Overall that was one of the best games we've had all season and most importantly we proved we can keep our concentration throughout the full 90 minutes.

Tom Starke: When you give away the ball as easily as we did you can't get into the game, let alone win it. A 4-0 loss is a bitter pill to swallow, though.

Ernst Tanner: You'll never have any success against Bayern if you're as timid as we were today. However, I'd rather lose 4-0 once, than 1-0 four times.

Arjen Robben: We started the match very well and when we took the lead we continued pushing forward in search of another goal. The link-up play with Franck is fantastic. I'm really happy he's back in the side.

Philipp Lahm: The thing I was most happy about in the game was that the creative players up front also tracked back to help out the defense.

Christian Nerlinger: With a performance like this, we've got nothing to worry about in Europe.
