1899 Hoffenheim and Tomislav Maric agree contract termination

1899 Hoffenheim and Tomislav Maric have agreed a mutual termination of the 37-year-old's contract.

Maric recently completed his coaching badges and is looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead for him. The former Bundesliga striker (32 goals in 96 games), was born in Heilbronn, and spent two seasons in Japan playing for Urawa Red Diamonds from Winter 2005 to the end of 2007, before returning to Germany. He became influential to Hoffenheim as they achieved promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2007 - scoring 17 goals in 47 games.

In season 2007/2008 he joined the coaching staff of head coach Ralf Rangnick. "The fans all took to Tomislav due to his Heilbronn heritage. It certainly would have been possible to allow him to coach the youth team, but we understand his desire to learn new skills and establish himself as a trainer. We wish him good luck and thank him for his successful time with 1899 Hoffenheim", said manager Ernst Tanner. Tomislav Maric thanked the club for "the successful and enjoyable years in which I have been able to learn a lot for my future career. I wish 1899 Hoffenheim every possible success in the Bundesliga."
