Wishlist transfer: Swiss talent Leon Avdullahu moves to the Kraichgau

A strategist for the middle of the park: Hoffenheim convince Avdullahu

Avdullahu has progressed through all the FC Basel youth ranks since completing a switch to the renowned academy from FC Solothurn in 2018. His breakthrough in the first team finally came in the 2023/24 season, when he quickly established himself as an indispensable part of the team. In Basel's double-winning season, Avdullahu made 35 appearances in the Swiss Super League (one goal) and played four cup ties. In total, the 1.85-metre-tall defensive specialist has racked up an impressive 71 competitive appearances (three goals) for FC Basel. He has also demonstrated his leadership qualities as the captain of Switzerland's U21 national team.

In Leon Avdullahu, TSG Hoffenheim have signed a player who – despite his young age – already has a great deal of experience and possesses all the attributes required of a modern defensive midfielder. The club are convinced that Avdullahu will play an important role in the years to come.
