Grischa Prömel: "We implemented a lot of what the coach demanded in the first half. That was super. We no longer managed that in the second half. We had no composure on the ball and Union applied a lot of pressure. It doesn't always need to look good; it was our fourth win in a row, we'll take that. We're satisfied so far, but the numbers are tallied up at the end. We mustn't let ourselves go crazy because it's going well now. Today was one of the games I was looking forward to most. I saw many familiar faces."
Oliver Baumann: "They were two different halves. We defended well and also played better with the ball in the first 45 minutes. Then in the second half, we defended with the last line. We of course needed luck for the ball not to go in, but we factored that in a bit. For us, it was important that we didn't concede a goal. I don't know if we were lucky, but Union made it enormously difficult for us by applying pressure. Everyone is fighting for each other, I see an enormous development in that regard. It's fun, even if we have too little possession. That was heart and passion. That is also the key to success sometimes. We performed as a team. Right now we can enjoy the win, but next week we have to keep working. We also have to analyse why we got out so little. We must not regard the win too highly."
Andrej Kramarić: "It's a very good start to the season. But a season has 34 matches, not five. Everyone knows that we also started well last season but then had problems. Nobody wants to experience that again. Today we can be happy. It's always difficult to go away to Union. They have a good team, plus there's a special atmosphere here. We were focused the entire time and played very seriously, like real men. We had many good moments, especially in defence. We gave hardly any good chances away and did not concede a goal, that's very important. It's great to win. We can now also have a smile on our faces for a short while. But everyone knows that it's back to work again on Monday."
Pellegrino Matarazzo: "We played a very good first half. It was very mature. We gave away few goalscoring chances and deservedly went in front. We lost the control in the second half. There were too many easy losses of possession. We had to suffer but we defended with passion. That speaks volumes for the team. I'm very satisfied with the victory."
Urs Fischer (Union Berlin coach): "We did not produce a good performance in the first half, but it was more to my liking in the second half. I want to watch the game first before I say more. I'm a bit peeved and usually say the wrong thing."
