"I'm just happy"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 4-2 win over Union Berlin.

Andrej Kramarić: "We've finally managed it. Even though it's maybe not yet mathematically certain, we've kept our place in the division. It was not an easy game; for me, it has been one of the most difficult seasons of my career. Today we deserved to win and played a good game. We gave everything from the first minute onwards. The fans supported us superbly. We were completely focused and produced a strong performance in the first half in particular. We can celebrate today. We don't want to repeat a season like this; rather, we want to build on the old times again. We want to show mentality next week in Stuttgart and build on the performance from today."

Grischa Prömel: "It's a big weight off our shoulders. It feels as though we've stayed up, even if it's not mathematically done yet. We're enjoying the moment and soaking up the emotions. I'm incredibly happy that we've won. We've always stuck together and fought. The relegation battle has been a completely new experience for this team. We want to enjoy the feeling today and win against Stuttgart on the final day. We've fought for each other and given everything to stay in the division. It was a very special match for me. After we went 2-0 up, we were too passive and sat too deep. But it doesn't matter in the end: we won."

Pellegrino Matarazzo: "We already produced a good performance in the first half. We didn't want to invite the opponent onto us, acted cleverly and maturely. In addition, we got in behind at the right moment. We had to get through a spell of Berlin pressure, especially in the opening stages of the second half. It got significantly better after Munas Dabbur came on, we kept the ball well. Today, the three points and our survival, which is now very, very, very probable, are the one and only thing that counts. When the pressure is at its highest, you can celebrate the greatest emotions. It simply does you good. It's a nice feeling. The boys have earned it, they have gotten their reward. It has been brutal to dig ourselves out of this hole again."

Urs Fischer (1. FC Union Berlin coach): "Congratulations to Pellegrino and his team on the win. Football is a game of errors. We made too many individual errors and give away too many gifts. After unnecessarily going 2-0 down, the team regained their composure. We applied a lot of pressure in the second half and created many chances. We also set up the goal for Hoffenheim to make it 3-1. It's difficult to win a Bundesliga match if you do that. But Hoffenheim also made good use of it."
