TSG win 3-2 in friendly with 1860 Munich

TSG Hoffenheim ran out 3-2 winners in their friendly against third-tier side 1860 Munich. In the match played over 120 minutes (2x60), TSG took the lead within the first minute thanks to Christoph Baumgartner. Angeliño and Fisnik Asllani also got on the scoresheet for Hoffenheim. The 60ers were able to draw level after the first two TSG goals, but could muster up no response to the third goal, scored with 10 minutes left on the clock. There were two more pieces of good news: Ermin Bičakčić made his return to the starting XI after a long spell on the sidelines, while Ihlas Bebou made his first appearance since the beginning of May.

TSG Hoffenheim claimed a 3-2 (2-2) win over third-tier side 1860 Munich in a friendly test match played in freezing cold conditions at the Dietmar Hopp Stadium. The 915 fans in the crowd were entertained right from the start, as Christian Baumgartner scored the opening goal for TSG after just 40 seconds. After an attack down the right flank, the ball came to Dabbur in the box, who tried his luck on goal with an audacious back-heel. His effort was blocked, but the Lions were unable to get the ball clear, giving Baumgartner the chance to fire home from 15 metres out and give TSG a 1-0 lead. Down the other end, Munich also made the most of their first chance on goal, as Marcel Bär netted from close range in the 10th minute. In the 28th minute, Angeliño made it 2-1 after being played in by Dennis Geiger, who had won the ball in the opponent's half. But the Lions continued to be ice-cold in front of goal, in keeping with the weather conditions. In the 36th minute, a TSG back pass was played too short, Albion Vrenezi chased after it and beat Oli Baumann to the ball before slotting home into the empty net. TSG had a few more good chances before the half-time break, but they couldn't capitalise on them and the two sides remained locked at 2-2.

At the break, André Breitenreiter brought on five fresh outfield players. There was a special cause for celebration, as Ihlas Bebou was able to play for 20 minutes after a long injury absence. Due to the many changes on both sides, the flow of the game suffered somewhat in the second half. In contrast to the first half, chances were scarce. TSG fans had to wait until the 110th minute before they could cheer again: Fisnik Asllani was well-placed to get on the end of Eduardo Quaresma's cross and score the winning goal.

On Tuesday, TSG will face SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the last fixture of the year. The match will be played behind closed doors. The team will then take a short Christmas break before training resumes on 2 January.
