Kramarić: "It really hurts"

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 4-3 defeat to SC Freiburg:

David Raum: "Of course, it is really disappointing. We put in a lot of effort and did well for long stretches of the game. They made it 2-2 too quickly – that was a massive blow. Freiburg ruthlessly took advantage of their chances today like a top team does. Whenever we made mistakes, they scored. Every week, we give it our all, but unfortunately almost everything has been going against us recently. The mistakes we are making are just being punished straight away."

Andrej Kramarić: "It really hurts. We played well again today, it was an exciting match, which is good for the fans, but in the end we are coming away with no points. This evening was actually a reflection of the whole season. This team deserve to be in the top 6 of the Bundesliga. We have so much potential, have played really great football at times this season, but now we are eighth. It just hurts."

Sebastian Hoeness: "It was an amazing game for the neutrals. Both teams came to play. It was football the way it should be played. From our perspective, though, it was a bitter evening. We did the things we set out to do very well. Unfortunately, once again, our opponents scored from their first real chance. But we came back. We came out of the break with a lot of energy and made it 2-1. We should have been able to draw energy from going into the lead, but it was unfortunately a bit of a blow when they made it 2-2. We continued to play after we went 4-2 down and almost equalised at 4-4. It was a crazy game, and it would have been a deserved point. We are really disappointed. But there are still two games to go. It's not over."

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "Hoffenheim played with a back-four, which surprised us. We discussed that again, so we were able to react to it. TSG played really well and were very aggressive. We came back from behind and turned the game around. Making it 2-2 straight away was hugely important. The team showed extraordinary mental strength. At the end of the day, we were the luckier team. Hoffenheim could have taken at least one point from the game – they were excellent. Nevertheless, it was not an undeserved victory."
