Bebou commits himself to TSG until 2026

A few days after the contract extension of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann (until summer 2024), TSG Hoffenheim have taken another vital step in their squad planning. On the eve of the winter break, the Bundesliga club have reached an agreement with Ihlas Bebou which will see the two parties continue to work together in the long term: the striker will remain with TSG until 30 June 2026. The 27-year-old's previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2023.

"Ihlas has developed into one of the most dangerous and sought-after strikers in the Bundesliga over the past two-and-a-half years, which makes his long-term commitment to TSG all the more important," said director of football Alexander Rosen about the versatile attacking player. "His explosive drive, outstanding physicality and strong ball control make him extremely difficult to defend. Furthermore, he is not only a goalscorer, but also shines as a facilitator. Ihlas is an outstanding team player on and off the pitch."

Bebou moved to Hoffenheim in the summer of 2019 from Hannover 96, who had just been relegated from the Bundesliga. Before his two-year stint in Lower Saxony, he played for Fortuna Düsseldorf U18 level onwards. The Togo international striker (29 caps/1 goal) quickly established himself at TSG and became a fixture in the team's forward line. "I found the perfect mix of support, trust and good training opportunities here. In addition, a team that - together with the coaches and staff - not only promote the idea of team spirit, but also practice it day after day. That's why I'm looking forward to and am excited about what the future holds.''

The striker has scored 20 goals and notched up 11 assists in 76 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim. In addition, he has made five appearances in the DFB-Pokal (one goal and four assists) and six in the Europa League . Bebou was voted player of the year in a survey of TSG fans last summer.
