Hoeness: "That was an advertisement for football"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund.

Sebastian Rudy: "It was a very intense match and both teams did very well in the second half in particular. After coming back two times, conceding a goal like that is very bitter. We tried everything in that passage of play, threw ourselves into the path of the shots and Oli made two outstanding saves as well, but we couldn't stop it from going to 3-2. Nonetheless, it was a very good performance from us; we played superbly and are on the right track."

Christoph Baumgartner: "It's an extremely bitter defeat. We created a lot of chances for ourselves and a point would've certainly been deserved in my view. We already felt in the first half that we were in with a chance. We then wanted to play with more courage in the second half and switched things around, but unfortunately Dortmund ultimately had the better finish."

David Raum: "The disappointment is initially great when you lose like that. But we played a super game here; that's what we need to take from this evening. BVB obviously have enormous quality in their ranks and then they have the home fans on top of that which gives them the momentum. But we also came racing out of the blocks and created a lot of chances for ourselves. In the end it was unfortunate, but we'll work through the mistakes – and the positives too. We'll travel home with our heads held high."

Sebastian Hoeness: "Our performance was extremely positive. Both teams played excellently. There didn't necessarily need to be a winner today in my opinion. We switched it around in the second half and made a super start, but then went 1-0 behind in our best spell. We subsequently showed a super reaction and came from behind twice. We're on the right path; that should make us feel positive. By tomorrow morning at the latest, a sense of pride at this performance will have developed. I'm already proud of the lads now; they gave it everything they had. That was an advertisement for football tonight."

Marco Rose (Borussia Dortmund coach): "It was a dominant first half from us, but without clear-cut opportunities. We were able to consistently build pressure and went 1-0 up as well. We then unfortunately completely lost control and conceded the equaliser.  We were too passive in that period. It was a really wild match down both ends. Both teams wanted it. I'm delighted that my lads were rewarded for their passion."
