Grillitsch: "It was a bad game"

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 1-2 loss to FSV Mainz 05:

Ihlas Bebou: "It was a bad game from us. We even made it hard for ourselves. It was not a good performance from us. The coach prepared us, but we weren't at it. We have to put the game behind us quickly. The break can do us good. That was not enough. You can't win a game in the Bundesliga playing like that. We weren't at it today."

Florian Grillitsch: "We started the game as unfortunately as possible. After that, the game carried on exactly the same way for us. We couldn't get our link-up play going and hardly won any second balls. For me, it is inexplicable how we performed today. Of course, Mainz did well, but it was far too little from us today. It was a bad game from us."

Christoph Baumgartner: "It was a very bad game from us. It started very badly, conceding the opener, but what annoys me a lot more is that we didn't show how we can actually perform. That's extremely annoying. That's not the way we want to leave it before we split up for the international games. We knew that Mainz play extremely hard, that they throw everything they have at the opponents. We didn't accept the challenge today."

Sebastian Hoeness: "We started about as badly as possible. Our plan was that we would not allow Mainz to win the ball exactly the way they did in the build-up to the opener. That made them very dangerous. During our best phase in the game, we scored the equaliser, but then immediately went behind again. Today was our worst game of the season."

Bo Svensson (coach of FSV Mainz 05): "We played a good game today and deserved to win. We put a lot into it and found the right solution in several phases of the game. The players who came off the bench also ensured that we finished the game well."
