Baumgartner wins youth award

Major honour for Austrian Christoph Baumgartner, who won the "Lottery Young Player of the Year" award in his homeland. The TSG player beat Marko Raguz (LASK) and Yusuf Demir (Rapid Vienna) by more than 15,000 votes in the public poll, which is organised by the renowned "Kronen Zeitung" newspaper. In 2020, Baumgartner established himself as a regular fixture in TSG's Bundesliga team and made his debut appearance for the Austrian national team. Previous winners of the "Krone" award include the likes of David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic.

TSG to play friendly against SC Sand

Before enjoying a fixture-free Easter weekend, the Bundesliga women's team will play a friendly match against SC Sand at the St. Leon-Rot training centre on Thursday evening (18:30 CET). This will already be the third time that the league rivals have gone head to head this season. The Hoffenheim ladies, coached by Gabor Gallai, won both their first meeting in the FLYERALARM women's Bundesliga and a friendly in January both by a 3-0 scoreline.

Dongus makes Germany squad for first time

TSG captain Fabienne Dongus has been called up for the German women's national team for the first time by coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. The 26-year-old will join her Hoffenheim team-mates Tabea Waßmuth, Paulina Krumbiegel and Lena Lattwein in the Germany camp for the upcoming internationals against Australia (Saturday 10 April, live on ARD from 16:10 CET) and Norway (Tuesday 13 April, live on ZDF from 16:00 CET). "The call-up was a huge surprise," declared Dongus. "It's a massive honour for me just to be involved. I want to take the invitation as an opportunity to show myself in the best-possible light. But rather than approaching it with excessive expectations, I'll just take it as it comes." Two other players from the TSG women's team, Maximiliane Rall and the 18-year-old Jule Brand, who is in the extended squad for the first time, are on standby for the German women's team.
