Vogt: "More was possible"

Here's what the players and coach had to say after the 1-1 draw at SV Werder Bremen.

Dennis Geiger: "It was about time I scored another goal. There was a bit of luck in the build-up to it, but then came a good pass from Sebastian Rudy and a perfect hit. I'm obviously delighted I was able to get on the scoresheet again. We're slightly disappointed with the first period because we made a poor start to it. We struggled to find a foothold. After the break, things got significantly better. We performed how we wanted to in the second half. We can build on that. A point in Bremen is a decent result."

Kevin Vogt: "We're frustrated about the draw. More was possible today. We were better and had more chances, especially in the second half. But the first half was frustrating. We were not disciplined enough in our positions. We need to improve on that if we want to win games like this. Conceding the goal so early on was really annoying. But we kept going and tried to assert our style of play. It was special for me personally to go back. It was a very intensive period in the second half of last season."

Munas Dabbur: "It was an intense, hard-fought match. We had control over the game and created a lot of goalscoring chances, but we couldn't get that second goal. It's not easy to play against Bremen. The team was well prepared tactically. We were not at our best for the early goal we conceded, but we did come back quickly and levelled the scores at 1-1. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to get anything more."

Sebastian Hoeness: "The lads had tired legs out there, but you couldn't see it. We felt like we were on top, but we couldn't translate that into goals. For the goal that we conceded, we were caught napping off the ball. That obviously wasn't a good start. But we were well organised in the period after that and were very stable. We then managed to swing the game in our favour. We're still lacking the clarity we need in the final third to create clear chances."

Florian Kohfeldt: "Hoffenheim had many set-pieces at the end. We had to stay alert. We played very well with the ball, particularly in the first half. That was perhaps our best performance of the season. In the second half we couldn't find the footballing solutions to relieve the pressure. The whole game considered, I'm satisfied with the point. We took a step forward in footballing terms."
