New contract for Otto, whose loan at 1. FC Heidenheim is extended

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have prematurely extended David Otto's contract by two years until 30 June 2023. At the same time, an agreement was reached that the 21-year-old striker would remain on loan at second-tier outfit 1. FC Heidenheim in the coming season.

"Game time is an important element of a young player's development. David has come on a great deal, especially towards the end of last season, and so we decided together to extend the loan," said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen of a "solution that was excellent for all parties involved". TSG have previously had very positive experiences of sending young players (such as Kevin Akpoguma and Joelinton) out on loan.

Striker Otto already spent last season on loan with 1. FC Heidenheim, where he made 29 competitive appearances (one goal, six assists) as the club reached the Bundesliga relegation/play-off before ultimately losing to Werder Bremen. The U20 international has previously made four professional appearances for TSG, one of which came in the 1-1 draw against Ludogorets in the UEFA Europa League in December 2017.
