Schreuder: "It'll be a hard-fought match"

Having resumed their Bundesliga campaign with a loss against Hertha BSC, TSG Hoffenheim will be hoping to bounce back away to SC Paderborn on Matchday 27 (Saturday at 15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de). At the pre-match press conference, head coach Alfred Schreuder spoke about the personnel situation, the opposition and the home game against Hertha BSC.

Alfred Schreuder on…

…the personnel situation: "Andrej Kramarić will not be ready to play yet. He's already joined us a few times on the training pitch but it's still too early for him. We hope that he'll be able to return this season. Håvard Nordtveit and Diadie Samassékou will be available again, which means we'll have more alternatives at our disposal."

...the opposition: "I believe that Paderborn have played well this season. They're very courageous, create a lot of goalscoring chances and want to win each game. You can see in each game how close they always are. They may not have too many points on the board yet, but they play with a great deal of passion. It'll be a hard-fought match."

…the latest home game against Hertha BSC: "We've analysed the match: we played very well until we got to the penalty area. I think that we were the better team up until the 70th minute. We created enough gilt-edged opportunities but did not manage to take the lead. We need to improve in that regard."

…the objectives for the remainder of the campaign: "We've never spoken about European competition. We're on the right track in terms of our development. But if we lose our home games like we did against Hertha, then we cannot talk about Europe."

Head-to-head record:

It is only the fourth meeting between the clubs in the Bundesliga. TSG have won two of the previous three clashes, while the other match ended in stalemate. Paderborn have not yet managed to score a goal against Hoffenheim.

The opposition's form:

Paderborn lost four consecutive matches before the season was interrupted by the corona pandemic. But coach Steffen Baumgart's side drew 0-0 away to Fortuna Düsseldorf in their first game back. After 26 rounds of matches, SCP are bottom of the table with 17 points  and are six points adrift of 16th place.
