Ochs joins Hannover 96

Philipp Ochs is set to leave TSG Hoffenheim for second-tier outfit Hannover 96 with immediate effect. The 22-year-old's contract with TSG was set to expire at the end of the season.

"Philipp has always conducted himself superbly in what has recently been a challenging sporting situation for him. And the strong competition means his chances of getting minutes would not have increased in the second half of the season," said Alexander Rosen. The director of football added that when the opportunity for a move to Hannover 96 arose, "it was obvious to us that we would not deny him this opportunity. Following many years together, during which he has progressed all the way from our academy to the Bundesliga squad, we wish him every conceivable success for the future," said Rosen. The forward had not made an appearance in the Bundesliga this term.

Ochs, who had been at TSG since 2009, was promoted to the senior squad prior to the 2015/16 campaign and made 19 Bundesliga appearances for the club. In addition, he represented Hoffenheim twice in the DFB Cup and five times in the Europa League, scoring one goal. The former Germany U21 international helped the Kraichgau club become U19 champions in the 2013/14 campaign. He has since acquired additional experience via loan spells at VfL Bochum in the German second tier and Aalborg BK in the Danish top flight.
