Friendly defeat to Den Haag

Late defeat at the end of the training camp: one day before leaving Marbella to return to the Kraichgau, TSG Hoffenheim fell to a 1-2 (1-0) defeat against ADO Den Haag. Jürgen Locadia scored the only goal for Hoffenheim, with new signing Munas Dabbur coming on for his debut in the second half.

After the 2-3 defeat against Feyenoord, TSG Hoffenheim took to the pitch just one day later for the second and final friendly during the training camp in Marbella. TSG lost 1-2 to ADO Den Haag. Head coach Alfred Schreuder made 11 changes to his team from the previous day and saw his side dominate in the early stages.

The first big chance of the game fell to Steven Zuber in the 14th minute, but the Swiss hit the inside of the post after a through ball from Kevin Akpoguma. Two minutes later, TSG took a well-earned 1-0 lead. Zuber played the ball into the box from the right, where Luke Rupp pulled off an audacious backheel pass to Jürgen Locadia. The striker fired perfectly into the right corner of the goal from the edge of the penalty area (16). TSG had several further opportunities before half-time, but it remained 1-0 at the break.

Kevin Vogt and Lucas Ribeiro came on for Akpoguma and Zuber for the second half. In the 50th minute, U23 goalkeeper Stefan Drljaca, celebrating his debut in goal for the TSG first team, was able to show his class for the first time, parrying Crysencio Summerville's shot from the inside right. Eight minutes later, Sargis Adamyan almost made it 2-0, but the ball was cleared at the last second with the Armenian waiting to fire home (58).

In the 59th minute, Munas Dabbur came on to make his debut. The new signing replaced Adamyan, but his first action was to watch the equaliser, as Thomas Necid converted a penalty for 1-1 (62). With his first touch, Dabbur almost immediately restored the lead, but his header flew wide of the post after a cross from Stafylidis (69).

TSG pushed for the win in the final stages of the game, but it was the team from The Hague that struck the winner in the 89th minute, Summerville volleying in a cross from the right-hand side.

Hoffenheim travel back to the Kraichgau on Friday. The team get back to business in the Bundesliga on Saturday next week with a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
