Feyenoord come back to win friendly

TSG Hoffenheim were beaten 3-2 (1-0) by Feyenoord in the first friendly of their winter training camp. Strikes from Christoph Baumgartner and Sebastian Rudy had given the Kraichgau club a two-goal advantage, but the Dutch outfit turned the game on its head in the final quarter of an hour, sealing the victory courtesy of three late goals from Luciano Narsingh (two) and Jens Toornstra.

The conditions were perfect, with the temperature around 16 degrees Celsius, as TSG took on Feyenoord in the first friendly of the year at Marbella Football Centre. The first chance of the game came seven minutes in, but Philipp Pentke made a comfortable save to deny Feyenood captain Berghuis. Hoffenheim created their first opportunity five minutes later when Baumgartner won the ball back on the edge of the opposition box and fed Rudy, who found himself in a promising position in the penalty area before being dispossessed at the last second (12).

Feyenoord custodian Justin Biljow made a save to keep out Robert Skov's 20th minute effort, but he was powerless to keep out Baumgartner's shot 10 minutes later. Florian Grillitsch and Ihlas Bebou combined well before Rudy fed the Austrian, who kept his cool from around 14 metres out and deservedly opened the scoring. Skov fired a free-kick from more than 20 metres out wide three minutes before the interval and then, two minutes later, Biljow kept out Kramarić from close range to keep the deficit to one goal at the break.

There were fewer opportunities for both sides in the second half, although Pentke made a strong save in the 55th minute to keep his team ahead. TSG subsequently controlled the match, giving away next to nothing at the back and doubling their own lead on 76 minutes when Feyenoord failed to clear a Kramarić cross and the loose ball fell to Rudy. The Germany midfielder struck the ball first-time from around 20 metres out to make it 2-0.

But Rotterdam halved the deficit three minutes later after Jörgensen had won the ball back in the TSG box and squared to Narsingh, who slotted home from close range. Narsingh added another goal on the counter-attack in the 83rd minute to draw his side level but that was not to be all, with another loss of possession in midfield allowing the Rotterdam side to grab a winner in the 89th minute. Toornstra went clean through on Pentke and lobbed the keeper to seal the victory for the Dutch top flight outfit.

TSG are in friendly action again on Thursday when they take on ADO Den Haag at the same kick-off time of 15:30 CET. That match will also be live-streamed on achtzehn99.de.
