TSG reach last 16

TSG Hoffenheim have booked their place in the DFB Cup last 16 after recording a comfortable 2-0 victory over third-tier MSV Duisburg on Tuesday evening. Florian Grillitsch and Sargis Adamyan scored early in the second half to ensure the visitors would reach the next round.

Personnel & tactics:

Head coach Alfred Schreuder made eight changes to the starting XI that won 3-2 in Berlin. Philipp Pentke made his competitive debut for TSG Hoffenheim between the sticks, with the goalkeeper protected by a back four of Joshua Brenet, Ermin Bičakčić, Stefan Posch and Pavel Kadeřábek. Only Kadeřábek had started in the capital.

Dennis Geiger and Christoph Baumgartner were drafted into midfield alongside Sebastian Rudy, who was wearing the captain's armband, while Sargis Adamyan and Ihlas Bebou returned to the starting XI and played in the wide positions either side of centre-forward Jürgen Locadia.

Injury forced TSG into making a substitution at the break: Rudy was experiencing back problems and made way for Florian Grillitsch. Alfred Schreuder made his second change with the score at 2-0, withdrawing Locadia for Lukas Rupp after 62 minutes. The third substitution came as Robert Skov replaced Geiger in the 86th minute.

Moment of the match:

The opening goal: TSG's Florian Grillitsch broke the deadlock on the 53-minute mark with a long-range effort that put the Kraichgau club on course to reach the next round.
