#S04TSG: Relegation battlers vs. European challengers

When TSG Hoffenheim make the trip to Gelsenkirchen to face FC Schalke 04 on Saturday night (20:30 CET, Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de), two teams who find themselves in very different situations will go head to head: Schalke are battling to keep themselves in the Bundesliga, while TSG are dreaming of Europe. For fans and friends of TSG, achtzehn99.de has compiled all the important facts, figures and statistics on # S04TSG below.

Did you know that...

…the oldest coach in the league is going head to head against the youngest?

Schalke head coach Huub Stevens, 65 years of age, is five months older than Düsseldorf head coach Friedhelm Funkel. Julian Nagelsmann on the other hand is only 31 - younger than any other head coach in the Bundesliga.

…TSG go into the game on an exceptional run of form?

Hoffenheim are unbeaten in their last five matches, picking up 13 points in the process. Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig are the only other clubs to match this points tally over the course of the past five matchdays.

…FC Schalke find themselves caught in a relegation battle?

After a strong showing last season which saw them finish second in the Bundesliga, the ''Miners'' have fallen well short of expectations this time round. After Matchday 29, Schalke occupy 15th place in the table, with only six points separating them from the relegation play-off place. The team from Gelsenkirchen have only managed one win in their last 12 matches.

…old acquaintances will be reunited?

Schalke coach Huub Stevens will face TSG for the first time since he stepped down as manager of the club back in February 2016. The Dutchman replaced Domenico Tedesco on an interim basis four weeks ago. There will also be a reunion with Sebastian Rudy, who played for TSG from 2010 to 2017. Mark Uth, who moved to Schalke from Hoffenheim last summer, will miss the match as he is sidelined with an adductor injury.
