Nagelsmann: "Augsburg are an unpleasant opponent"

Julian Nagelsmann spoke at the press conference prior to the home game against FC Augsburg (Saturday at 15:30 CET, Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de) about the opposition, their coach Manuel Baum and the personnel situation.

Julian Nagelsmann on…

…the personnel situation: "In Florian Grillitsch's case, the extensor tendon in his middle toe is torn. He doesn't need surgery but will be temporarily out of action. There'll be some rotation but not to the same degree there has been in recent weeks. We can take a bit more risk with the international break coming up, although obviously a lot of the players will be active over the international break too. Other than Grillitsch, there are no players that picked up any physical problems during the Lyon match."

…FC Augsburg: "Augsburg are a very unpleasant opponent and they defend very aggressively. There are few teams that have created a whole host of chances against them. They defend incredibly well and they have a plan when they get the ball too. It's a club that's taking steps forward."

…Manuel Baum: "Manuel Baum is doing an outstanding job. I know him from when we were both in Munich. He was the 1860 Munich U23 goalkeeping coach while I played for the U19s. We see each other now and again but it's not as if we're in regular contact."

The opposition's form:

FC Augsburg currently sit in ninth place with 13 points after 10 rounds of matches. The Bavarians are already seven points clear of the relegation play-off place.

Head-to-head record:

Hoffenheim have won seven of the 14 previous Bundesliga meetings, drawing four and losing only three. Their home record against Augsburg is even better, with three wins and four draws from seven games.
