TSG to get Reiss Nelson from Arsenal FC on loan

Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim have responded to four established players being sidelined due to injury by bringing in Reiss Nelson from English Premier League outfit Arsenal FC at short notice. The 18-year-old talent comes in on loan until 30 June 2019.

"I'm really glad that we've been able to commit a player of such exceptional ability", said Alexander Rosen. TSG's Director of Professional Football highlighted in particular the pace, technique and dribbling strength of the 18-year-old Englishman. "Given the long-term absences of Nadiem Amiri, Lukas Rupp and Dennis Geiger as well as Kerem Demirbay's ligament injury, we decided to bring in another alternative for offensive midfield so as to be able to successfully navigate the many competitive matches we are to play in the coming weeks. Reiss Nelson will provide us with a number of options being a versatile player who can play as a number eight, a winger or in the hole", explained Rosen.

"I haven't come to TSG just to get game time under my belt at the highest level and to develop further as a player. I'm more of the opinion that I can help the club with my qualities to reach its ambitious targets in three competitions", said Reiss Nelson.

TSG's new number nine

Nelson, who will wear the number nine at TSG, was already causing a stir in his youth too. Despite the high-quality competition in the Londoners' squad, he has already made 16 appearances for the first team in competitive matches, three of which in the Premier League and eight in the Europa League. His performances for the "Gunners'" U23s meant he was also distinguished as "Player of the Year" in the Premier League 2.

Reiss Nelson has already played in every youth age category in the England national team set-up. He has scored 15 goals in 24 games. He was most prolific while playing for the U17s, scoring a goal a game on average (11 times).
