Linder & Leitzig at U20 World Cup, trio at U19 Euros
At the U20 Women's World Cup, Germany will face Nigeria (6 August, 13:30 CET), China (9 August, 13:30 CET) and Haiti (12 August, 16:30 CET) in the group. "We want to perform well in the group," said TSG shot-stopper Janina Leitzig. Team-mate Sarai Linder added: "It's a big tournament where we'll gain a lot of experience." The U20 women's team will head to Duisburg-Wedau between 22 and 25 July for their final preparations ahead of the finals. Coach Maren Meinert's charges will then travel to Dinard in Brittany on 2 August.
Fatma Sakar, Paulina Krumbiegel and Lisann Kaut, who are all part of the TSG U20 team, have been included in the Germany U19 women's squad of 20 players for the European Championships in Switzerland. Meryem Cal will be on standby. The DFB contingent will head to Bern on 14 July, before facing Group B opponents Denmark in Biel (18 July, 15:00 CET) and the Netherlands (21 July, 18:15 CET) and Italy (24 July, 18:15 CET) in Yverdon-les-Bains. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-final, where they will compete for a place in the final in Biel (30 July, 18:15 CET).
