Bicakcic with cruciate ligament tear

Julian Nagelsmann had some bad news to share during Friday’s press conference: following an MRI scan on his right knee, Ermin Bicakcic was diagnosed with a partial cruciate ligament tear. The TSG centre back will be out for at least 3 months.

The Bosnian international will undergo further examinations to determine whether he has suffered a complete tear to the cruciate ligament. Currently, this cannot be confirmed. A perfect view of the injury is being obstructed by heavy internal bleeding. “This is extremely bad news for Ermin and for the team,” said Nagelsmann, and concluded the press conference by explaining the situation: “He took a knock to the knee in the game against Braga and had to be taken off. Initially, there was no MRI scan, because Ermin knew the pain from last season. He was ready to be named in the squad for the Mainz game, but certain movements were painful. So we wanted an MRI scan to clear it up.”

The 27-year-old defender has made five appearances for TSG so far this season, completing two Bundesliga games and playing a full 90 minutes in the DFB Cup. In total, the Bosnian has made 72 appearances for Hoffenheim.
