Nagelsmann and Rosen sign new deals with TSG

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have agreed contract extensions with both head coach Julian Nagelsmann and director of football Alexander Rosen, keeping the successful duo at the club for the foreseeable future. Rosen has signed until 20th June 2020, whilst Nagelsmann’s new contract run for a year beyond that.

“Julian and Alex have hugely contributed to the outstanding sporting development of TSG Hoffenheim with their competence, patience, vision and determination,” praised Dr. Peter Görlich, the club’s chief executive. “Together, they have succeeded in forming a very effective team with their commitment on a tight financial budget. Their refreshing and bold attacking football has not only caused excitement nationally, but has also rocketed TSG Hoffenheim into Europe for the first time. Our latest success is getting the two of them to put pen to paper,” said Görlich. He also added, “We set ourselves high expectations for what we wanted to achieve on the pitch. We set up well and we can approach our upcoming challenges full of confidence and with vigour.”

“I have never made it any secret that TSG is no ordinary club to work for after so many years of finishing in different positions,” said Alexander Rosen. “Therefore I am all the more pleased that I have been able to take on a position of responsibility in this incredible team. The trust from the shareholders and the club management has been a huge incentive to write another chapter in the club’s successful recent history,” said the 38-year-old, who has been at TSG for eight years so far. He took over the post of director of football in April 2013, running the youth centre of excellence prior to that.

Julian Nagelsmann also feels a great deal of excitement for the challenges ahead, and feels that continuing to have Alexander Rosen by his side provides the “optimal conditions” for success. “This is a milestone on our shared journey, as it is a strong signal of continuity and stability to the club, team and staff,” said the 29-year-old head coach.

Shareholder Dietmar Hopp also considers the fact that Nagelsmann and Rosen will continue to collaborate at the club as a sign of the good work being done off the pitch. “Together with their staff, the management has developed the club in all areas and put us on a course for growth. This perpetual process has created an atmosphere within the club that makes this success possible and gives our ambitious plans a solid foundation,” said Hopp.
