Highlights

14. Minute: Strobl plays a long, diagonal ball into the Leverkusen box. Hilbert needlessly handballs inside the area and TSG have a penalty. Sejad Salihovic vs. Bernd Leno. Chip. Cool as you like. Sali, nerves of steel. 1-0, a week after his missed spot-kick against Mainz.

39. Minute: TSG are dictating the game and Stefan Kießling tries to do what he always does. 39th minute header to draw B04 level.

40th minute: The reply. And what a goal... Firmino releases Volland with a lovely pass and strikes with his left foot into the far corner. Beautiful! Amazing! Dream goal! 2-1.

54th minute: Leverkusen fight back again. It's Rolfes this time with the equaliser. Jens Grahl saves a decent Guardado free kick but is unable to do anything about the rebound. TSG have to settle for 2-2.

89. Minute: There it is! The goal! Unbelievable! Modeste makes it 3-2. The substitute Elyounoussi has impressed since his introduction, Johnson crosses and Modeste converts from five metres. A reward for a battling performance!

Match reaction

It was a hard-fought victory. We had planned to sit deep and let them come at us. Then we were clinical with our chances. We had a score to settle after the odd nature of the first game this season. Recently, I've not always been fortunate with my shots. To finish a counterattack like that was just fantastic. (Kevin Volland)
