Paderborn
match reaction

Here are the thoughts of Markus Gisdol, Andre Breitenreiter & Co. after TSG's 1-0 home win against SC Paderborn.

Markus Gisdol:The game was evidence as to why we issued a warning about Paderborn's qualities. They have a really good team and we needed to stay focused the entire time. It was important that we kept calm after missing the penalty early on in the match. I think we deserve the win, especially if you take into account that we hit the woodwork quite a few times. We are obviously very happy. It was only a matter of time before Kevin would score again. Even if he doesn't score, he always fulfils his duties for the team.

Andre Breitenreiter, Paderborn manager:Congratulations to Hoffenheim. They were the dominant team in the first half but the second half was balanced. We fought hard to get a foothold in the game following the early penalty against us, which fortunately didn't go in. At times we failed to take advantage of our counterattacking opportunities. Hoffenheim have enormous potential and you simply can't defend against them 100% of the time. We can be proud of our performance, as we once again showed that we are more than competitive in this division.

Eugen Polanski:The atmosphere in the changing room is obviously very good. That's always the case after a victory. However, we know that today's game was a really tough one. Paderborn were compact in defence and broke forward quickly. We intended to play full throttle for the entire 90 minutes and that's what we did. In the end I think we earned a deserved win.

Kevin Volland:We had chances to take the lead in the first half, but lacked precision. We should have put the game to bed in the second half after going in front. Looking at the entire game and the chances we created, I would say that it was a fully deserved win. Paderborn played well, especially at the back and with their counterattacking style.

Oliver Baumann:It was a big battle today. We kept charging at them and in the end we were rewarded for our efforts. At half time we told ourselves that we weren't allowed to give up and that we would continue to play forward and try everything we could. In the end we won thanks to a good team performance.
