Sweden international Jiloan Hamad joins TSG

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have signed Sweden international Jiloan Hamad. The 22-year-old midfielder will join TSG for the second half of the 2013/14 Bundesliga campaign on a free transfer from Swedish champions Malmö FF.

Malmö's captain, who was voted the best player in Sweden's top flight last week by journalists and fans, has signed a contract at TSG until 2017.

Hamad contributed to Malmö's 17th league title with eight goals and six assists this season. He also scored two goals in their Europa League qualifying campaign and assisted another goal. Overall he has made 125 appearances for Malmö in the Swedish top flight since 2009, netting 22 goals and providing 24 assists in the process.

Alexander Rosen, TSG's sporting director: “Jiloan Hamad is a young, ambitious player still in a developing stage of his career. He has proven his qualities in Sweden's top flight. He can play a lot of positions in midfield and we are happy that he has decided to join us.”

The attacking midfielder has made 28 appearances (two goals) for Sweden's U21 national team. Furthermore, he has been capped six times in Sweden's senior side.

Following a 2-0 victory over Elfsborg Boras on the penultimate matchday, Malmö lead the Swedish championship by five points with just one game remaining.
