USA beat Honduras 1-0 – Klinsmann praises Johnson

TSG player Fabian Johnson's USA national team made up for their loss to Honduras earlier in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying hexagonal by beating them 1-0 in Sandy, Utah. America manager Jürgen Klinsmann was full of praise for the Hoffenheim man, who provided yet another assist for Jozy Altidore's winning goal, following on from setting up the first goal in last week's 2-0 win over Panama.

Johnson played from the start in his usual position on the left-hand side, this time however as a full back. Nevertheless, US-manager Jürgen Klinsmann gave him the freedom to roam forwards. “Fabian is an important weapon for us and we wanted him to run beyond our midfielders and create some dangerous situations. It wasn't a coincidence that he was involved in our goal,” said the former Germany manager.

With a third win in a row, USA lead the World Cup qualifying hexagonal with 13 points from six games, two ahead of Costa Rica. The two sides will meet on September 6th. The final Hoffenheim man on duty can finally begin his summer holidays and will return to the Kraichgau on July 8th.
