“Getting an injury at this stage of pre-season is obviously a little annoying, but I'm doing a lot better now. I'm optimistic that I'll be able to be involved in Berlin on Saturday,” said Derdiyok. Manager Markus Babbel also hopes that the 23 year old will play some kind of role in the German Cup game against Berliner AK at 15.30 CET on Saturday: “If he continues to progress, there's no reason why he won't travel with the rest of the squad.”
Eren Derdiyok has returned to team training. Having missed out for several days, Markus Babbel was able to welcome his striker back into his side's training routine on Tuesday. The Swiss international picked up a strain in his right hamstring following a tackle in Hoffenheim's warm-up match against Real Betis.
