Harder13 Cup – Müller: “Our aim is to win the title”

With the imminent arrival of the winter break in the Bundesliga, the indoor football tournament season begins. One of the most prestigious tournaments in the Rhein-Neckar region is the Harder13-Cup. This year's competition, the seventh instalment since its start, will be held in the SAP Arena on the 5th January 2013.

Alongside TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, who were runners up last year, the defending champions Karlsruher SC, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, SV Waldhof Mannheim and SV Sandhausen will all be involved.

This year's Harder13 Cup has a slight change of format to it though, with only five teams taking part instead of six. “We thought long and hard about how we could make the Harder13 Cup more exciting for all football fans. With the reduction in number of teams to five, we can guarantee each set of fans four games, not two as was the case in previous years”, noted Daniel Hopp, business executive of the SAP Arena.

As a result of the fact that both teams will meet each other at least once, the two teams in the final will most certainly be the best two.

TSG sporting director Andreas Müller expressed his excitement in the press conference ahead of the tournament: “I enjoyed playing indoors too. The atmosphere is fantastic. Especially when all of the teams are from the area as well, it makes for great entertainment. I'm looking forward to it”, said Müller. The TSG sporting director expects a great deal from Hoffenheim in the tournament: “I hope we can go into the tournament with the right attitude. Our aim is to win the title and I expect to see that from my players. Success in this tournament can give us the push we need to get our confidence back and prepare for us the second half of the Bundesliga season.”

Admission on the 5th January is at 16.00 CET, with the event starting at 17.30 CET and kick-off at 18.00 CET. Tickets for the event in the SAP-Arena are available here.
