Freiburg match reaction

The derby between SC Freiburg and 1899 Hoffenheim was a thrilling game and one that Freiburg ended up winning. The match reaction follows:

Markus Babbel: We conceded far too many goals. It's almost impossible to win a game when you concede that many. Freiburg put us under a lot of pressure and were very aggressive. In the decisive moments we continue to make too many mistakes. On more than one occasion we looked poor during set pieces. Conceding goals in that type of manner is infuriating for me personally because we have planned for these situations. After their fifth goal, we needed to stay tight. We were lucky not to concede more, but in truth that wouldn't have reflected the course of the game. At the end of the day, Freiburg were just that bit more confident of winning the game.

Christian Streich: We played risky, attacking football. As a result, we couldn't prevent all of TSG's opportunities, they were too efficient. I am delighted at the way in which we played.

Marvin Compper: We made it too easy for Freiburg, conceded too many and were careless in our tackling. Our attitude was right but we made it hard for ourselves because of the mistakes we made.

Matthieu Delpierre: We were too vulnerable. We can't play like that in the top flight. We made far too many basic errors, the kind that get punished immediately. We didn't manage to control the game; we hardly played at all and were too passive.

Daniel Williams: We have a lot of work to do when it comes to set pieces. If you concede five goals, you normally never win the game. We just don't have the confidence at the moment. We needed to play more intelligently after taking the lead but instead, we let Freiburg control the game. If we carry on playing like this, we can't talk about the Europa League.
